Pop siblings DONNY and MARIE OSMOND have signed a new deal extending the run of their Las Vegas variety show by two years - just seven weeks after its opening.
The pair initially agreed to perform a 26-week run of shows at the Flamingo Las Vegas hotel and casino kicking off on 9 September (08).
But their stint has become such a big hit, Flamingo President Don Marrandino has called on the duo to continue entertaining guests until October 2010.

| Upgrade Begins For Iconic Las Vegas Sign |
| One of Las Vegas' most enduring attractions is getting an upgrade to insure visitors will be safe. Every year, thousands of tourists and locals converge on the "Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas" marquee sign on the southern end of the Strip to have their picture taken. Limousines, trucks, and cars park haphazardly in the median in an attempt to avoid an accident, and those who park across the street often are forced to run out into traffic to get to the sign. Clark County Commissioners on Wednesday broke ground for a parking lot to be set up in a large area of the median near the sign so people can park and walk safely. No official records have been kept about accidents in the area, but Commissioner Chip Maxfield says the steady stream of visitors has made the lot necessary to protect the public. The parking project should be completed by Thanksgiving. |

Top 10 Las Vegas attractions
02:49 PM CDT on Thursday, September 18, 2008
By NOEL GROSS / The Dallas Morning Newsngross@dallasnews.com
Here are 10 popular Las Vegas attractions. They're listed first to worst.
1 Big Elvis – Pete Valle is a 400-pound hunka hunka burnin' love whose king-size ode to The King eclipses all others. At Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon on the Strip. Free. Contact: www.bigelvis.biz.
2 The Rat Pack Is Back – A revolving stable of Franks, Deans and Sammys lam it from heaven for "one last show" (twice nightly at the Plaza Hotel & Casino). Yet it's Marilyn's "Happy Birthday" that raises the dead. Cost: $57. Contact: www.ratpackvegas.com.
3 Liberace Museum – Never underestimate a man in hot pants. Particularly if said ensemble is bedazzled with red, white and blue sequins. Cost: $15. Contact: 1775 E. Tropicana Ave.; www.liberace.org.
4 Pinball Hall of Fame – This jing-jangling collection of classics is ready for action and, unlike modern slot machines, they still take quarters. Cost: 25 to 50 cents per game. Contact: 3330 E. Tropicana Ave.; www.pinballmuseum.org.
5 Circus Circus' Midway Stage – Ogling Cirque du Soleil's O? It will cost you at least a C-note. Instead, behold the disturbing dexterity of a Russian handstand siren turned human Lazy Susan. Free. Contact: 2880 Las Vegas Blvd. South; www.circuscircus.com.
6 Fountains of Bellagio – The Strip's answer to Old Faithful fires a multitude of thunderous geysers skyward in a spectacle not seen since the excess of 18th-century Versailles. Free. Contact: 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South; www.bellagio.com (click on Amenities).
7 Atomic Testing Museum – A blinding flash and an air cannon square in the kisser passes for subtle in Vegas and also recalls the bygone era of "duck and cover." Cost: $12. Contact: 755 E. Flamingo Road; www.atomictestingmuseum.org.
8 Madame Tussauds – Stern "Do Not Touch" admonitions have been replaced by visitors' being encouraged to don bunny ears and hop into bed alongside a silk-PJ'd likeness of Hugh Hefner. Cost: $25. Contact: 3377 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; www.mtvegas.com.
9 Fremont Street Experience – Neon cowpokes seem quaint in the blaze of this five-block videodrome sure to crane the neck of every slackjaw ambling 90 feet below. Free. Contact: 425 Fremont St.; www.vegasexperience.com.
10 Sirens of TI – Think The Pussycat Dolls Meet the WWE, only with more fireballs and loose lip-syncing that literally sinks a ship. Free. Contact: 3300 Las Vegas Blvd. South; www.treasureisland.com.

a couple of interesting spots that are either free or very
inexpensive to visit. Especially if you enjoy those days
from the past.
Liberace Museum
This museum has a $6.50 entrance fee, but is well worth it. You can see everything possible dealing with the pianist, and spend a lot of time marveling at the wonders this Museum has to offer.
Imperial Palace Auto Collections
Home to one of the world's largest and finest collection of antique, classic, muscle and special-interest cars, the Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace is not to be missed! A few of my friends and I were talking the other day about how
we missed the good old days when the Hotels and Casinos were small
and warm. I know that a lot of visitors like the big plush palaces of today's
Las Vegas and that is great. However I remember when I would visit here
(which I did a LOT) my friends and I stayed at many different properties
and one of my favorites was the Desert Inn, the staff there was the greatest and always made you feel like a high roller (even though we weren't) and one of my friends said they always went to the little Bourbon Street Hotel on Flamingo to get
the $7.77 steak and lobster. Again the big fancy hotels are fine and a sign of the new Las Vegas, but I have heard many comments about how cold they are and that the staff at a lot of them, seem like programmed robots. Not like a few years back when most of the staff acted like they were really glad to see you. Maybe it would be better to let the staff use their experiences with guests and not have so much pre this and that. We need to bring back that nice warm feeling even if everything is "BIGGER and BETTER" Bet it can be done. Above this blurb I have
posted a few pictures of property's of the past. If you enjoyed yourself at any of these or maybe even worked at one please leave a little note of your experience.

Encore, part of Wynn Las Vegas is expected to open in December 2008. The Encore Tower will add an additional 2,034 suites to the resort at an estimated cost of $2.2 Billion. Applications will be accepted for the 5,300 positions at the hiring center starting in mid July.
How will Encore effect the local economy? The obvious, 5,300 new jobs will have a long term effect. The short term effect will be the tens of thousands that come to Las Vegas for the grand opening of Encore. December is usually the slow time of year for the Hotel and Casino Industry, so the grand opening of Encore would bring in much needed revenue for the local economy.
Many of the new jobs created will be filled by employees from other hotels leaving openings at these other properties. The increase in available jobs will cause an influx of people relocating to the Las Vegas Valley. These new Las Vegas residents will need some type of housing whether it be an apartment, rental home or home ownership, which will be good for the local Las Vegas Housing market.
The Las Vegas Real Estate Market is currently doing better and there are many positive signs on the horizon like the opening of Encore that indicate we are on our way to a recovery.

The Trump International Hotel & Tower Las Vegas is a 64-story condo-hotel
Las Vegas: It's got Trump written all over it
The celebrity developer gambles on a new luxury hotel off the beaten path
By Valli Herman
Los Angeles Times
Article Last Updated: 06/17/2008 03:46:17 PM MDT
LAS VEGAS - With the opening of the Trump International Hotel & Tower Las Vegas, New York developer Donald Trump is bringing another dose of bravado to a city that already swaggers with it. Trump's approach to luxury hospitality may be more gilded, exclusive and Manhattan-inspired, but it's no less bold.
Eleven weeks ago, the guy opened a $1 billion hotel in Vegas without a casino. Madness. He built the thing off a lonely stretch of road behind the Fashion Show Mall. Insanity. He created his 64-story condo-hotel tower by selling the residential-style units to deed-holding investors, who may or may not add them to the hotel's rental pool. That's possibly brilliant - or disastrous if sales of the units, priced from $700,000 to $5.6 million, continue to slow.
But he's added enough novel, indulgent features to warm jaded travelers and soothe frequently frazzled fliers. A white-gloved doorman ushers guests into a high-ceilinged lobby that shimmers with crystal, marble and golden trim and is continuously scented with a light floral fragrance. Guests are immediately offered a chilled bottle of water and a heated hand towel on individual trays. In half a minute, the elevator whisks them to the uppermost floors, where cozy but contemporary rooms offer vast views of the neon Strip or the golden sunset.
The Indy Racing League championship celebration, held the past two seasons at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, will be in Las Vegas on Nov. 5.
The celebration will take place at The Pearl, a state-of-the-art theater located in The Palms resort.
Las Vegas will be the seventh city the IRL championship celebration has visited since 2000, when the champion was crowned at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis.
The following year the celebration took place at The Speedway Club in Fort Worth, Texas, while the 2003 event was staged at the House of Blues in Chicago. Disney's Epcot Center and the cruise ship Disney Wonder hosted the championship celebration in 2003 and 2004, and Paramount Theatre in Hollywood was the site in 2005.
